Terengganu State Parks Management Council or Majlis Pengurusan Taman-taman Negeri Terengganu is created under Section 8 of the Terengganu State Parks Enactment 2017 to manage and govern areas gazetted as state park such as Setiu Wetlands State Park, Kenyir State Park, Pulau Tenggol and Pulau Nyirih. TSPMC works with various organisations to effectively manage its parks and raise awareness about the importance of preserving mother nature among the Terengganu public through its efforts.

Gaia is a social enterprise dedicated to conserving the 9 species of hornbills that are found in the Kenyir State Park. Gaia achieves its objectives by working with other NGOs and local communities to document the conservation status of these iconic species and enhancing breeding opportunities. These majestic creatures are important to the survival of many species of flora within the area and throughout the region as they are known to be farmers of the sky as their role is dispersing the seeds of numerous fruit trees and helping the Kenyir forest renew itself.

PAST
The now-defunct Rimba is a non-profit group of scientists who conduct conservation research to produce evidence-based management recommendations to help decision-makers mitigate threats to biodiversity in Peninsular Malaysia.
Rimba’s aim was to function as the bridge linking conservation science and conservation practice — taking extra steps to proactively bring their results to practitioners and policymakers, in order to ensure that the research feeds directly into practice, informing and guiding conservation action on the ground.
Rimba played an active role in shaping up conservation efforts in Kenyir watershed between 2010-2020 and eventually incubated NBS, JWM and Project Takop to continue the work.
Protecting the gazetted area from illegal activities has also been made possible with support from the Terengganu State Forestry Department, Department of Wildlife and National Parks of Peninsular Malaysia (PERHILITAN), The Royal Malaysian Army and The Royal Malaysia Police.
With our collaborative approach, KFL is always hopeful for prospects of working together with like-minded organisations and communities in keeping the forest and biodiversity of Kenyir for future generations.
